Tommy

$100.00 / year

Tommy has something truly special about him. He is a sweet, gentle and shy orangutan yet he is also inquisitive by nature. He is always calm and moves around with a deliberate and determined manner, charming anyone lucky enough to meet him.

Tommy’s beautiful paisley-shaped eyes stare out at the world like liquid brown pools. When he pouts with his pudgy soft lips and those big dark eyes look up at you, your heart just melts. His flame-coloured hair is growing thick and more plentiful. He will reach out from his enclosure and warmly take a visitor’s hand, eyeing him or her curiously.

Walk toward Pondok Dua (Camp Two) and you will likely hear the sound of clapping. It is Tommy signaling that he is ready for more delicious fruit. Tommy lounges in his own enclosure, so that his caregiver Pak Denni can ensure this sweet orangutan eats heartily. Previously Tommy was a famously picky eater so we are delighted that he is now clapping and making noisy demands for food.
