Every day is a gift and Kobe certainly knows this as she appreciates the time given to her. She wants to spend much time living in the moment and leaves any concerns behind for the future Kobe to worry about.

Kobe continues to own her time in Forest School. Her mouth is slightly open in wonder as she perpetually moves around the canopy. In a rare moment of stillness Kobe sits in the shade of a tree. Cracks of sunlight penetrate the canopy. Her dark orange figure blends into the jungle. The red and orange hair of orangutans provides excellent camouflage in the treetops. Kobe sits wistfully with a quiet and relaxed demeanour. It invites us to gather around and see and hear what she has to say. All eyes are on her.

Kobe tells her story through her actions. She is a focused individual, full of vim and vigour. She reaches out her hands to seize leaves and branches. She pulls them towards her to sniff them and see what they have to say. Kobe employs all four of her hands when exploring! She also likes to know what “story” the caregivers’ pockets have to say. Kobe frequently attempts to investigate them. If there are peanuts, she wants them. It’s almost impossible to say no to Kobe and so her caregivers reward her tenacity.

Kobe’s stories are about her delight in investigating the mysteries of the forest and her relationship with the caregivers. On a particularly hot day Kobe enjoys a sweet treat. Sugar cane provides this natural buzz. Not that she needs much more energy!

Kobe frequently disappears into the top of the forest canopy. She shimmies up along a vine and brachiates from one tree to another, gaining height with each movement. She hangs by one arm from a branch. Who knows when she will come down? Her story is far from over and we are all a part of it. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter will bring.
