Crystal has blossomed into a super confident and active young orangutan. She is always at the centre of any playtime activity, displaying boundless energy and curiosity. If there’s a pool of water around the playground, you can be sure to find Crystal there, splashing and playing in sheer delight. She has developed a quirky and adorable habit of pouring water over herself, then drinking it only to spurt it out from her mouth in playful streams.

A natural climber, Crystal excels at scaling trees, showing off her impressive agility and strength. She enjoys receiving attention from her beloved surrogate mum, Ibu Eteng, and demands to be the centre of Ibu Eteng’s world. Crystal can get quite jealous if Ibu Eteng’s attention strays to another orangutan. When in her sleeping enclosure, if she sees Ibu Eteng eating outside, Crystal will bang on the enclosure door to express her displeasure at being left out.

Crystal shares her enclosure with Vida, Royal, and Proudfoot, and she gets along well with her companions. She responds promptly to any instructions or guidance from Ibu Eteng. Crystal’s love for enrichment activities is evident as she seems to crave stimulation. Crystal will take her puzzle enrichment and use a stick to poke the peanuts out of their holes. She doesn’t mind if they drop into the water as she slurps them up with gusto. Crystal unwraps rattan mats with ease to find the treats within and even if she discards them initially, she often returns to hoover up any leftovers.

This little hairball, with her expressive pursed lips and keen interest in climbing high into the trees, continues to captivate everyone around her. Crystal’s journey of growth and learning is a joy to witness, and she never fails to bring a smile to the faces of those who care for her. Her playful spirit and affectionate nature make her a beloved member of the orangutan community at the Care Centre.
