Koling is a bundle of energy! This lively young orangutan never stays still for a moment. His sweet and gentle nature makes him friends with everyone, whether they are human or orangutan, large or small.
Still very young, Koling adores the attention of his surrogate mum, Ibu Sopi, who spoils him with affection. Their bond is heartwarming, and Koling thrives under her care. He shares a sleeping enclosure with his best buddy, Sugar, and the sight of them cuddling each other to sleep is incredibly heartwarming.
Koling is a good eater, never fussy about his food, which makes meal times a breeze. Speaking of a breeze – one of Koling’s favourite activities is being fanned on a hot day. As soon as someone starts fanning him, he throws his arms up in the air, opens his mouth, and wiggles his tongue in sheer enjoyment. He is completely mesmerized by the sensation and can’t get enough. Koling loves to interact with his caregivers and mimic them. Copying someone is the sincerest form of flattery after all! When they throw their arms up in the air, Koling copies them, making it his signature move when walking around bipedally. Although he is still a bit wobbly on his feet, watching him walk around is a delightful sight. He slowly and methodically winds his way through the playground as well, clambering around nets and playing in tyres. When it’s enrichment time Koling has to make way for some of the bigger infants, but he ensures that he doesn’t miss out on any treats. He grabs what he can and dashes off to enjoy it in private. After his mad dash, Koling sits down on the boardwalk, next to the playground, and calmly watches the world go by.
Koling’s playful spirit, friendly disposition, and the adorable way he interacts with everyone and everything make him a joy to be around. He is progressing well, and we have no doubt that he will continue to charm us all with his antics and affectionate nature.
