As spring fast approaches Carmen is fit and healthy and definitely has a spring in her step. Carmen is very comfortable in her own skin. She has chilled out as she has matured. She is a friendly and approachable orangutan who loves being with her friends. She has plenty to mix it up with at Pondok Dua. Carmen is a social butterfly, spending time with Summer and Dodot in the playground one moment, before swinging and sliding her way over to see what Meli and Maue Kay are up to in the forest. She is very observant and doesn’t like to miss out on anything.
One thing Carmen doesn’t mind skipping is getting dirty, so she avoids wet mud and soil as much as possible. Carmen prefers to keep a neat and tidy profile. She has found a way of enjoying terra-firma and keeping clean. Carmen snaps off leafy branches and gathers them together in an extravagant pile. She constructs a big enough collection until she decides it’s comfortable enough to sit on. Carmen is a perfectionist and ensures it is just right before ensconcing herself in the leaves. A perfect nest for her to rest, sleep, or unleash her wild side! After some meditation she rolls around in delight with her arms flapping like wings.
Carmen does have a slight Machiavellian side when it comes to her caregivers. She can be very stealthy, moving quietly among the trees. Her arms blend into the colour of the trees to provide a perfect camouflage. Unbeknownst to her caregivers, Carmen sneaks up behind them and before they know it, she is halfway through investigating their pockets to see if there are any treats or enrichment items within. She isn’t picky, any fruit or parcel is appreciated.
Carmen is a focused, astute orangutan, and is able to look after herself in most respects. She is still young and dependent on us for the moment. There is a long road ahead. Your continued support is valued and makes a real difference to her wellbeing.
