Hockey continues her enduring and inspirational journey. She has settled into a nice routine alternating between restful and active days. She has maintained a healthy body weight and is quite a big girl now. Hockey is unlike other orangutans in her preferences and distastes, although she still very much likes bananas and mangoes. She does not enjoy being bathed, but loves it when her caregivers pat and rub her down with a towel afterwards.

Hockey is escorted to the Learning Forest as often as possible. She is carried along a path and placed on the soft grass. It is here that Hockey looks up at the sky and gazes at the clouds. She constantly scans the sky above, not wanting to miss a thing. Her tongue flicks in and out as she “tastes” the air around her, identifying all the fragrances of nature. After some time, she contently falls asleep right out in the open, letting the sun’s warm rays envelop her.

Calm and serene at these moments, Hockey can also be incredibly lively. Passers-by never escape Hockey’s keen sense of hearing. She will quickly turn around, raising herself upright, and move as much as possible to investigate the source of the sound.

Hockey’s physiotherapy sessions continue to benefit her. She stays active and has fun with the enrichment items she is given. She uses her left hand to nimbly wrap her fingers around enrichment balls, and delights in rolling them around.

Hockey doesn’t let a single thing hold her back from embracing life and enjoying it to the fullest!
