Holland has progressed in “leaps and bounds” over the past few months as she continues to show impressive climbing competency. Her approach is both methodical and graceful. When she sets her sights on a climbing opportunity, there is no stopping her. She often climbs to the very top of the canopy, and then swings from one branch to the next with ease. When she is not among the trees at forest school, she swings around with her friend Clara in one of the tyres at jungle gym in the Nursery Playground.
While she enjoys losing herself in the treetops, she still keeps one eye out for her caregivers, showing a healthy and safe attachment for her age. She is very affectionate, regularly bestowing kisses and hugs to those around her. Should her primary caregiver walk in the opposite direction, she makes her feelings known, squealing and dashing over to grab her caregiver’s hand. She then spends as much time as she needs in the comforting arms of her caregiver before venturing back into the trees.
Daily playtime always comes to an end, but Holland stretches it out for as long as she can. She climbs as high as possible, flaunting her lively personality and prowess with heights. Eventually she is coaxed down, but not without some cajoling.
When it’s mealtime, she enjoys her old favourites, rambutans and mangoes, and has also developed a taste for sweet potatoes. When it’s bath time, she sometimes hides to avoid showering, but the offering of a tasty treat like a banana will always bring her back out!
Holland’s forest skills and competence are continuing to develop, and we are excited to watch her progress over the next months!
