A day out with Crystal is never dull! Her round, pleasant, and open face is full of curiosity. Even if Crystal is unsure of something, she is willing to give it a try. Crystal is a lover of life – she loves all fruits; she loves meeting new friends, and she especially loves splashing about in the water during the rainy season. She actively plays in the trees and journeys far from the Camp Danielle playgrounds. When Crystal knows it’s time for Forest School, she becomes restless and eager for release. She doesn’t like to be tied down, she wants to sow her wild oats, as she is wild at heart. The leaves and fruits of the forest are what she desires. Her enclosure buddies Vida, Proudfoot and Royal follow Crystal’s lead.
Crystal’s curiosity sometimes extends to her caregiver’s pockets. It’s not unknown for Crystal to be carried from her sleeping enclosure, and she “helpfully” takes and carries her caregiver’s extra face mask in her left foot as they walk along the boardwalk. Where did that extra face mask come from? You guessed it! The caregiver’s pant pocket.
Her favourite caregiver, Ibu Eteng, is one of the few that Crystal will listen to and return to at the end of a long day of exploration. On the boardwalk, Crystal stops, lies down and stretches herself on her front, almost in the yoga position – child’s pose. This reminds us that she is still a child and has a long way to go. As a foster parent you will be happy to know Crystal is fit and healthy and sporting long, luscious hair. Her jungle skills continue to blossom, and she responds positively to anything the enrichment team directs her way. We’ll continue nurturing this child, who was born to be wild!
