Holland is doing wonderfully well at Camp Danielle and remains a gentle, forest-loving orangutan who brings a sense of calm wherever she goes. She is healthy and enjoys forest releases, confidently exploring her surroundings at her own relaxed pace. Although she has recently moved enclosures, she remains in the same camp and has barely noticed a difference. She still shares her new enclosure with orangutan friends Proudfoot, Doris, and Royal. She is a beautiful orangutan with a spark in her calm eyes which attracts others to her.

Holland has a strong love for the forest and shows little interest in the playground. She prefers spending time high in the trees, climbing tall trunks and exploring quietly on her own. Holland ventures into the forest slowly and thoughtfully, taking her time and clearly enjoying every moment. She is also increasing her foraging skills, searching for forest fruits and young leaves during her outings. She is happy to wander independently without needing close company, yet she is always attentive, polite, and well behaved. When called by her caregivers, she reliably comes straight back.

One of Holland’s most endearing traits is her close bond with her surrogate mother, Ibu Anting. Holland still loves to take her caregiver by the hand and gently lead her to wherever she wants to go, often inviting her to accompany her into the forest or lift her up to a tree so she can climb. Holland enjoys sharing her discoveries and experiences, and her calm, sweet nature makes these moments very special for everyone. While she plays happily with her friends and is never naughty with caregivers or other orangutans, her true happiness is found alone high up among the trees.

When it comes to food, Holland is a little fussy. She dislikes corn and prefers soft fruits, especially bananas. Otherwise, she prefers only the very best quality fruit. If the fruit offered doesn’t meet her standards, she is quite content to stick with bananas instead.

Holland is a beautifully gentle orangutan with a deep love for the forest. We are delighted to watch her confidence grow as she continues to explore the treetops and enjoy the world in her own quiet, thoughtful way. If you ever have a bad day, five minutes watching Holland make all your troubles melt away!  We thank you so much for your support and concern for this sweet, serene orangutan as she makes her way in a life that could have been tragic with the loss of her mother. Thank you very much. We will always remain grateful!
