Jojo continues to be a lively and much-loved orangutan at Camp Danielle, bringing energy and enthusiasm to everything she does. She currently shares her sleeping enclosure with her best friends Nani and Giselle. The three of them are often seen playing together during the day. Jojo is healthy and has a fantastic appetite. There is no fruit that she doesn’t like. She is released daily and enjoys a wonderful balance of playground fun and forest exploration. While she still spends much time playing on the ground with her friends, especially when wrestling or chasing each other, Jojo has increasingly been drawn to the forest. These days, she often prefers travelling high in the trees, climbing confidently and exploring further afield along with her sidekicks, Nani and Giselle.
In the playground Jojo is very active and playful. She enjoys somersaults, jumping on the ground, and has earned herself a reputation as Camp Danielle’s enthusiastic “dive bomber”. Pretending to be a submarine is another favourite activity. Jojo loves bathing, splashing in puddles and mud, and playing in the rain pools, especially alongside another good friend Crystal.
Jojo is generally well behaved when she is out with staff and other orangutans. She gets along well with everyone during daily release, socializing eagerly with her fellow primates, both human and orangutan. Perhaps the presence of her caregivers subdues her rambunctious instincts as she can be a little mischievous with her roommates when together in their sleeping enclosure. She has also begun to show encouraging signs of independence by finding wild fruits in the forest.
Recently, Jojo has been adjusting to a change in her care routine as her surrogate mother, Ibu Ijum, has moved to work with orangutans at a different camp. Jojo has been said to have been very much loved by Ibu Ijum. It is true that the two share a deep bond. Jojo still keeps a watchful eye out for Ibu Ijum whenever she can. Despite this change, Jojo has adapted well and continues to thrive with the support of the Camp Danielle team.
Jojo is a confident, adventurous, and affectionate young orangutan whose growing independence is exciting to watch as she continues her journey toward a future life in the forest. Thank you so much for making Jojo’s eventual journey back to the wild possible through your concern and support. We are very grateful. If she could talk, Jojo would also express her deep gratitude.
