You will be delighted to hear that Koling is thriving at Camp Danielle and remains a sweet, gentle, and playful young orangutan. He is released daily and shares his sleeping enclosure with his close friend Sugar with whom he is almost always seen playing. These two are rambunctious cute little orange “rascals”. The two are inseparable, enjoying games, climbing, and exploring together. Koling also enjoys spending time with fellow orangutan, Miki, rolling and playing around in the playground.

Koling has a healthy appetite and enjoys enrichment activities, especially parcels and puzzle enrichment which keep his curious, clever mind engaged. He is brave and confident, not afraid to interact with larger orangutans though he can be a little wary of intermittent staff who wander by from other camps, often breaking out into a few small goosebumps until he gets used to them. However, he gets used to new caregivers quite quickly, seemingly understanding what their role will be in his life.

Koling loves moving around the playground and forest. He enjoys climbing tall trees, jumping from playground equipment, and walking confidently on the ground. He is especially known for his somersaulting and rolling antics. “Rolling Koling” would make a great wrestling nickname for him. Despite his playful energy, Koling does take time to relax and reflect, quietly hanging out and observing the world from a good vantage point when he wants a calm moment. Koling loves water play and baths, often rolling and splashing around with Miki. His new surrogate mother, Ibu Anting, has become a great source of comfort and support after Ibu Sopi was transferred to a new job in Quarantine. Koling continues to thrive under her care, balancing his playful energy with his gentle, calm nature.

Friendly and well-liked by both orangutans and humans at Camp Danielle, Koling remains an active, happy, and confident young orangutan. All baby orangutans are indescribably cute, but from his initial arrival a few years ago Koling was one of the cutest infants at the Care Centre. He still remains so. It’s not just something physical. It’s something in his eyes and in his personality and spirit. Whether he’s somersaulting through the playground, exploring the forest, or quietly watching from a tree, he continues to delight everyone around him.

Thank you so much for helping Koling survive and thrive! OFI could not have done it without your kind concern and support!  We appreciate your love and attention to Koling very much!
