Jeffrey Jr. has grown into a big, heavy, and gentle giant. Despite his size, he exhibits a gentle demeanour, though he can be a bit stubborn at times. His impressive stature is notable for his age, making him stand out among his peers.

The playground no longer holds much interest for Jeffrey Jr. His true passion lies in the trees and forest, where he feels most at home. Once in the forest, he moves swiftly and often heads towards the neighbouring orangutan day release camp, Pondok Cempedak, always on the lookout for new adventures. He constantly tests his own limits, and sometimes those of his caregivers! Despite his love for exploration, Jeffrey Jr. is obedient and will return promptly when called, as long as he is promised a piggyback ride home. His caregivers find him quite heavy to carry, but it’s still his preferred mode of transport.

When outside of his enclosure, Jeffrey Jr. is incredibly chilled out and relaxed. However, once inside his sleeping enclosure, he adopts a dominant stance, often acting as the boss of everyone else with him. He takes any opportunity to snatch food from his companions, displaying a different side of his personality.

Jeffrey Jr. has a particular fondness for coconuts, which are a favourite treat. Additionally, he has a quirky habit of loving hats and putting things on his head. He tears the rattan enrichment mats open, and often fashions them into headpieces, much to the amusement of his caregivers and peers. He squeaks his displeasure if made to do something he doesn’t want to do. This is an orangutan who is used to having things his way.

Jeffrey Jr.’s dual nature – relaxed and gentle outside in the forest, yet dominant and assertive inside his sleeping enclosure – makes him a fascinating individual. His love for the forest, coupled with his playful habits, showcases his unique personality and zest for life.
