Ryan continues to be quite the entertainer of the Learning Forest, bringing much laughter and joy to his caregivers. He likes to climb high, hang from vines by one leg, and use his free hands to grab at and play with other orangutans. He also chews on anything edible he can find on the forest floor. Ryan has continued to grow and stands out among his peers as one of the biggest orangutans in his sleeping enclosure. Although big and strong, he never abuses his strength. He is usually more focused on his propensity for tomfoolery!

Ryan is a very sociable orangutan and has formed a great friendship with Tommy. Upon their meeting, Ryan welcomed him in his own inimitable style. While Tommy was a bit wary of Ryan who was coming on quite strongly, Ryan persisted in establishing the friendship. Ryan closely follows all of Tommy’s activities, even crawling down from the tree tops to grab at leaves right from Tommy’s hands! Sometimes Ryan hops onto a tree stump and leaps off to land right on top of Tommy. The two play-fight for as long as they can, rolling around in muddy leaves and into puddles. Ryan also loves to dip his head into these puddles, filling his mouth with water, and playfully spurting it out.

After a long, energetic day in the Learning Forest, Ryan will happily crawl onto the back of his caregiver to be carried back to his sleeping enclosure. When lunchtime comes, nothing beats rambutans and corn. With his good diet and regular exercise, Ryan has remained fit and healthy.

Over the coming months, we hope he continues to progress well, until one day he is a magnificent and striking adult!
